9 students joined “English Camp”

On March 16th and 17th, 2016, “English Camp” was held at Greenhill Gohara in Kure, Hiroshima by Kure Kosen. 9 students from Ube Kosen joined the camp. (2 students from the department of Mechanical Engineering, 2 students from the department of Electrical Engineering, 2 students from the department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, and 3 students from the department of Business Administration. )

This “English Camp” is aimed at improving communication in English for Kosen students. Kure Kosen has held this event since last year and they encourage other Kosen schools to join the event. 50 students from 6 Kosen school in Chugoku district joined the event this time.

There were five English workshops in groups for 2days at “English Camp” and foreign teachers joined each group as a person in charge.

At a workshop

At a workshop for improving listening skill and speaking skill, they played like UNO game using cards with English sentences. Also at a workshop for learning communication in studying abroad and homestay, they talked in a group about what makes host family happy, and then one of the student from each groups presented their idea in English.

Other workshops, they played like Japanese Sugoroku in English. Also, each person saw a card with a picture and some words, then made 20 seconds theme-based story in English using the card, then put 10 students’ stories together and made one big story.

The students who joined the camp were able to learn English in an enjoyable way through workshops and had great two days.
