WELCOME TO AYA YATSUGI'S HOMEPAGE!
[日本語のページ(Japanese Version)]
Its key words are Dickens, Little House, Amish, English education, and Traveling abroad.
I am interested in 19th century British fiction, particularly Dickens. Here is the list of my thesis, translation, etc., though only Japanese is available. At this moment, I am struggling with his historical novels, Barnaby Rudge and A Take of Two Cities, and trying to explore his view of history.
I became interested in reading English when I came across Laura Ingalls Wilder's Little House series at the age of 10. I first read them in Japanese and liked them so much that I wanted to read them in Laura's own words.
I have my own Little House page, though only Japanese is available. I established this web page in 1997 so as to encourage Japanese people to read the series, hopefully in English, because they often think of "the Little House on the Prairie" as nothing but a TV series.
I visited Laura's home sites from 1997 to 2000, where I came across Amish people and became fascinated with their simple life style. Here is a report of my visit to one of their communities in Seymour MO in 1998 and a list of related sites, though only Japanese is available.
Here are also my records of traveling abroad, and the UNCT ESS page created by my students, though only Japanese is availabe again and again.
