The Training Workshop is designed to provide the knowledge and skills in machining for the first to third-year students in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The students receive basic training in lathe turning, cutting with milling machines, hand finishing by filing, NC machine tool programming, arc welding and so on in their first and second years, so that they can get through the whole manufacturing process in their third year. For engineering students, getting hands-on training is of crucial importance in developing skills.
The workshop is used for various other purposes, such as to prepare samples for research, make experimental equipment, and build robots for robot contests. As part of our community service activities, the workshop also holds annual engineering courses for elementary school children with the view of offering future engineers the opportunity to experience the joy of making things.
