Mechanical engineers are indispensable wherever machines are used for manufacturing. Their work ranges from research and development to designing, manufacturing, and equipment maintenance. The skill of programming and knowledge of electronic circuits are also required because almost all machines have been computerized in recent years.
The Mechanical Engineering Department aims to produce engineers who can take active parts in modern industry. We provide students basic knowledge and skills in（1）designing and making machines,（2）computer-aided drafting and designing,（3）effective utilization of energy, and（4）automatic controlling and information processing. In addition to basic lectures, hours are sufficiently devoted to experiments and practical training in order to put learning into practice. Graduation research also occupies an important place in the curriculum to cultivate inventive and self-dependent ways of thinking.
