On March 25th, 2016, the award ceremony of the 7th Yamaguchi Industry and Technology Development Incentive Award was held at prefectural government office. A professor emeritus at Ube Kosen, Mr. Nobuyuki Sugimoto got the Governor’s Special Award.

Yamaguchi Industry and Technology Development Incentive Award are given to medium-sized companies which are contributing to industry development in the prefecture by business activities based on superior technology. Mr. Sugimoto has undertaken the joint research with SUNPPOLY Co., Ltd. And. SUNPOLY Co., Ltd. received the Governor’s Special Award and Mr. Sugimoto was awarded as well to his contribution for the development.

SUNPPOLY Co., Ltd. And. and Mr. Sugimoto developed the Strawberry Elevated Cultivation System “Rakurakku”. Conventionally, the farmers had to work with bent-over posture. “Rakurakku” can relieve their burden because they can work standing up. Also the primary member of the system is made by recycled plastic, so it is light and durable.

I was surprised when I got a phone call from the person in charge at prefectural government office and heard about this award. I’m deeply moved by receiving a prestigious award. I’m very grateful for Ube Kosen giving me this research environment. Also I’m appreciative of everyone’s support.
