2026.07.22
On Wednesday, May 20, 2026, the kickoff meeting for Ni-Halo Taiwan 2026 (First Semester) was held. The program is designed to facilitate online exchanges in Japanese with high school students from partner schools in Taiwan.
Ni-Halo Taiwan is an online exchange program that connects students in the Japanese Language Department of the Five-Year College Division at Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, with Taiwanese high school students. This international exchange program is designed to facilitate communication in Japanese among students of the same age group. The first session was held from October 2020 to February 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, the program has been offered twice a year, in the first and second semesters, with new participants joining each session.

During the exchange activities, we will hold discussions in Japanese—and sometimes in Chinese—on topics such as popular music and food in Taiwan and Japan, as well as English and manga. These exchanges deepen participants’ understanding of each other’s cultures while supporting the improvement of the Taiwanese students’ Japanese language skills. Many students who have previously participated in training programs at Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages of Foreign Languages, as well as those who will be participating this summer, are taking part in this exchange program. We look forward to witnessing lively interactions both in person and online.
