An opening ceremony for the Department of Mechatronics Engineering Technology (based on KOSEN model-Japanese) was held at CAO THANG Technical College (CTTC) in the center of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on October 17, 2020. One hundred seventy-four male students were accepted to the department. It is a three-year course for students who graduated from a secondary school. CTTC is the third school that has started Kosen Model Program for Vietnam of the introduction of support project.

As a lead school, Ube Kosen has been working with Ariake Kosen which is a support school of the project, and improved the curriculum, syllabus, and etc.

President TANIGUCHI Isao of the National Institute of Technology could not visit Vietnam to attend the opening ceremony due to COVID-19, so that Mr. HAYASHIDA Eiji (the head of the Kosen Vietnam Liaison Office) attended the ceremony as a representative of the president TANIGUCHI, also Ms. Tan Lee from the Kosen Vietnam Liaison office attended.

CTTC is established in 1906 as the main school under the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Their mission is to foster high skilled engineers.

The opening ceremony kicked off with the traditional dance, then followed by student singers, first as a solo and a group of four students, sang a song called “We Are the Vietnamese” which was to pray for the country’s more success.

After the performance, it was followed by the national anthem, CTTC president speech, the National Institute of Technology President Taniguchi’s congratulatory message read by Mr. HAYASHIDA, speech from the director of the Ministry of Labour – Invalids and Social Affairs, speech from the chairman of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Ho Chi Minh City.

Henry Tan Pham (operation manager of Nidec Sankyo Company), Nguyen Thi Huyen Thanh (administrative manager of Nissei Electric Vietnam), Truong Quan Trung (vice president of CTTC), Nguyen Thanh Phuoc (chief of the Department of Mechatronics Engineering Technology, CTTC), and HATASHIDA Eiji (head of the Kosen Vietnam Liaison Office) participated in a panel discussion.

Mr. HATASHIDA explained the structures and characteristics of Japanese Kosen and a career after graduation. CTTC representatives expressed their expectation to collaborate with many Japanese companies and they said they would work to make the education level to the worldwide standard. Business representatives mentioned the actual results of hiring CTTC students and accepting CTTC interns. Also, they shared some items which they wanted students to learn.

We recognized that Kosen Model Course at CTTC had a high expectation for further collaboration with Japanese companies and industrialization in Vietnam.
