宇部高専SA（Student Ambassador）の留学生との交流活動を担当するグループが、「ニーハロJAPANESE」で、JASSOの奨学金を受けて来校しているマラ工科大学（マレーシア）の学生と、放課後の交流活動を企画しています。
同グループは、今年4月から毎週木曜日に、放課後の長期留学生との交流活動として、ボードゲームを用いた日本語での交流を中心に行ってきました。10月のマラ工科大学学生の来校以降は、日本語での交流が難しいことから活動内容を変更し、英語と簡単な日本語での交流を深めています。

昨年最後の活動となった12月22日には、日本の食事マナーのレクチャーと、ミニクリスマスツリーを制作しました。
日本の食事マナーのレクチャーでは、箸の持ち方や食器の並べ方を学びました。ミニクリスマスツリーづくりでは、SAのメンバーが作り方を説明し、留学生と一緒になりオリジナルのツリーを完成させました。

私は二ーハロJapaneseのリーダーとしてさまざまな企画を行っています。二ーハロJapaneseは主に宇部高専に留学に来てくれた留学生に対して、日本語や日本の行事に触れてもらうことを目的として活動しています。
マラ工科大学の短期留学生来校に合わせて、今回は簡単な日本語学習や日本の食事マナー、クリスマスのミニツリー作りなどを行いました。ミニツリー作りでは、まず初めにSAのメンバーが作り方を説明し、留学生がそれを見て自分好みのミニツリーを作りました。ある留学生は、紙を使ってツリーにつける星を作っていてオリジナルのミニツリーを完成させていました。それぞれ個性のある素敵なツリーを作ることができていたため、留学の思い出に残れば嬉しいなと思いました。
二ーハロJapaneseを通じて、マラの学生の多くはカメラを向けると笑顔でピースしてくれるなど社交的な人が多いと感じました。また、日本の行事や言葉など日本の文化について興味を持ってくれる留学生も増えたため、色々な企画をして良かったと思いました。

Konichiwa Minasan! I am Hani, one of the international students, who has been invited by NITUC for a research attachment and cultural exchange programme. For the cultural exchange programmes, we have been introduced with few classes. One of the classes under the cultural exchange programme is the Global Literature Club. Global Literature Club or known as Japanese Ni-Hello is a class supervised by Hatamura Sensei that specially prepares for the international students to blend with Japanese Students to learn the basics of Japanese language and culture.
For the past Japanese Ni-Hello classes, we have done a few different activities in each of the classes such as introduction, name tag decoration, fruit card game, introduction to New Year celebration in Japan, and Christmas tree decoration. In the first class, we were instructed to sit in a circle with the Japanese students to introduce ourselves and play a few games after such as learning how to ask others’ birthday month and the sequences of months in Japanese by lining up based on the birthday month. In the next classes, we were introduced to the meaning of our name and decorated our name tags that were written with our name in Katakana, Hiragana and Kanji.
In the third week, we were exposed to the names of fruits in Hiragana and Katakana by card game activities. We were also given a chance to learn about Japanese culture during the New Year celebration in one of the classes. At the class session, we learned the eating etiquette on how to use chopsticks and types of Japanese foods for the celebration. Lastly, in the recent class, the Japanese students have prepared an activity specially for the Christmas celebration which was the Christmas tree decoration. I am very excited and can not wait to learn other Japanese language and culture in the next classes.
