MUHAMMAD ARMAN BIN ZAINUDDIN (機械工学科後藤研究室)

Konichiwa! My name is Muhammad Arman Bin Zainuddin, an exchange student from Malaysia. I am 24 years old. I am in my Final Year of my study in bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Universiti Teknologi MARA and will be graduating this year in September. First of all, I would like to thank NIT, Dr Shahriman Adenan which is my supervisor in Malaysia and Professor Minoru Goto, my supervisor in Japan for letting me to do research attachment (internship) and cultural exchange for 3 months in Ube Japan. I would never forget the opportunity that was given to me. During my period in Japan, I’m conducting an experiment about the mechanical properties (hardness) of stainless steel 316L. There are many new things that I got to learn in Japan where Professor Minoru Goto always keen to give us a new knowledge every day. I’m quite impress with the machines that are placed in NIT such as Wire Cut Electric Machine, Nanomechanical Test Instruments and Tribotest Machine (handmade by Professor Minoru Goto’s student) which could not be found in my university. The best part is I have the opportunity to use all the machines and completed my research in NIT with the help of Shinoda Sensei, Watanabe-San, Nishio-San and Abe-San. Not to forget, I also have the opportunity to go visit the company in Ube which is Nagiya Machinery and Ube-i-Plaza.

During my period in Japan, I have attended Nihalo Class which is the cultural exchange program where I got to meet NIT students. I’m very happy to talk to the students and sharing our knowledge together. We went to Hiroshima and Miyajima together for our school trip and it was the best school trip ever. I’m impress with how the students handle all the programs and events there. I appreciate it and will miss all the things that we did together. Please don’t forget about me! During our Winter break, I spend most of my time in Osaka and Mie. Since I was a kid, I was exposed with thrill theme park, where I have been in Universal Studio Singapore and other theme parks in Malaysia. In Japan, I have managed to go to Universal Studios Japan and Nagashima Spa Land. The place was not only fill with thrill rides but also a beautiful scenery. It was one of the unforgettable memories in Japan.

Before we went to the presentation day, Hatamura Sensei, brought us to Traditional Japanese house. I experienced the Traditional Japanese Culture with Nagai-San and Ayaka-Chan. What shocks me the most is the traditional house is 120 years old. Nagai-San said it is very difficult to maintain the garden of the traditional house because it is very expensive to hire some workers and time consuming to do it ourselves.

On 19th January 2023, 7 short-term international students are needed to present about their internship in Japan including me. There are many new things that I got to learn during our presentation. I was exposed with other department experiments from the Department of Electrical Engineering, Intelligent System Engineering, Chemical and Biological Engineering and Business Administration. There are many interesting experiments that was done by every department such as a study of arm injury, Image Analysis of Cherry Tomatoes and the cells induced by transcription factor. Even though, it was not my field, I try to understand and was really impress with their experiment. I was very happy to present my research on the last day at NIT, but the sad part is I know that this presentation day means the end of everything in Japan. I would like to give thanks again to everyone who help me during my 3 months period in Japan especially Goto Sensei, Hatamura Sensei, Mitani Sensei, Shinoda Sensei and Chihiro San. I really appreciate all the things that you did to us in everything. Arigato Gozaimasu everyone!
